President Donald Trump attacked his own FBI on Friday, only to praise them to their face minutes later.
Speaking to reporters in front of the White House, Trump complained about an FBI agent who sent texts calling him an “idiot,” and accused the entire bureau of bias as a result. The agent in question also sent texts slamming former Attorney General Eric Holder, Chelsea Clinton, and Bernie Sanders.
“Well, it’s a shame what’s happened with the FBI,” Trump told reporters. “But we’re going to rebuild the FBI. It will be bigger and better than ever. But it is very sad when you look at those documents. And how they’ve done that is really, really disgraceful, and you have a lot of very angry people that are seeing it. It’s a very sad thing to watch, I will tell you that.”
“And I’m going today, on behalf of the FBI, their new building,” he added. “But when everybody — not me — when everybody — the level of anger at what they’ve been witnessing with respect to the FBI is certainly very sad.”
When Trump did speak at the FBI Academy shortly after, he struck a very different tone.
“I am here not only to congratulate you, but to honor you for your courage and for your devotion and I want you to know that with me as your president, America’s police will have a true friend and loyal champion in the White House, more loyal than anyone else can be,” Trump said.
“The President of the United States has your back, 100%,” he added, without a hint of irony. “I have so many friends that are police officers, so many people in the FBI, these are great, great people. These are really heroes to all of us.”
Twitter users couldn’t help but notice Trump’s embarrassing pandering.

Minutes after trashing the FBI and Justice Department as he boarded Marine One, Trump has the nerve to make this comment at the FBI National Academy.@realDonaldTrump is the definition of being two-faced. pic.twitter.com/QYNaYXTbKI

Remember when Trump tried to say he fired Comey because Comey mistreated Hillary during the election? 😂
Now he's saying the FBI is doing just the opposite
He doesn't care that everything is on record, and neither do his supporters
It's quite maddening

Donald Trump is giving a speech to the FBI today. It’ll be good practice for when they interrogate him later.

Donald Trump to FBI: “I will fight for you and I will never, ever let you down.”
The FBI be like: “We are investigating you and we are taking you down.”
