Trump Furious After Sally Yates Used Ingenious Move to Shutdown Unhinged ‘Tweet Storm’

Former acting Attorney General Sally Yates hit back at President Donald Trump’s unhinged weekend-long attack on his own Department of Justice and the FBI.

Trump was clearly rocked by the news that disgraced former national security adviser Michael Flynn had pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI and is now cooperating with special counsel Bob Mueller’s investigation Russia’s role in the 2016 election.

Trump spent the entire weekend attacking the FBI, complaining that they “destroyed” Michael Flynn’s life but not Hillary Clinton’s, despite an exceedingly long FBI investigation that found her use of a private email server to be careless but far from illegal.

“So General Flynn lies to the FBI and his life is destroyed, while Crooked Hillary Clinton, on that now famous FBI holiday ‘interrogation’ with no swearing in and no recording, lies many times…and nothing happens to her? Rigged system, or just a double standard?” Trump tweeted.

“Many people in our Country are asking what the ‘Justice’ Department is going to do about the fact that totally Crooked Hillary, AFTER receiving a subpoena from the United States Congress, deleted and ‘acid washed’ 33,000 Emails? No justice!”

Trump then jumped on a report that Mueller fired an FBI investigator months ago after learning he had sent anti-Trump texts, a move that clearly shows he wants his investigation to be free of potential accusations of bias. Trump, on the other hand, decided that the entire FBI’s reputation is now “in tatters” and the “worst in history.”

“Tainted (no, very dishonest?) FBI ‘agent’s role in Clinton probe under review.’ Led Clinton Email probe. @foxandfriends Clinton money going to wife of another FBI agent in charge,” Trump tweeted.

“After years of Comey, with the phony and dishonest Clinton investigation (and more), running the FBI, its reputation is in Tatters – worst in History! But fear not, we will bring it back to greatness,” he added.

Yates, who has worked at the Department of Justice for decades and made headlines earlier this year when she refused to implement Trump’s unconstitutional Muslim travel ban and was the first DOJ official to inform the White House that Flynn lied about his contacts with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak, fired back at Trump’s attacks on his own FBI.

“The FBI is in ‘tatters’? No,” she tweeted. “The only thing in tatters is the President’s respect for the rule of law. The dedicated men and women of the FBI deserve better.”

Former Attorney General Eric Holder also ripped Trump for attacking the FBI.

“Nope. Not letting this go,” he wrote. “The FBI’s reputation is not in ‘tatters’. It’s composed of the same dedicated men and women who have always worked there and who do a great, apolitical job. You’ll find integrity and honesty at FBI headquarters and not at 1600 Penn Ave right now.”
