Tone Deaf Paul Ryan Gives Worst Possible Answer When Asked If Trump Sexual Assault Accusers Are Liars

House Speaker Paul Ryan decided to play dumb when asked about the 19 sexual assault and harassment allegations against President Donald Trump.

In an appearance on the Today show Wednesday, host Savannah Guthrie asked Ryan about his stance on Trump’s accusers as a growing number of Democratic lawmakers call for the president to resign.

“Look, I don’t even know what all these accusations are,” Ryan claimed when asked if he agreed with the White House talking point that all the women are liars.

“I’m focused on fixing Congress,” Ryan continued. “I’m focused on my job, where I work, making this institution safe. I want my daughter to be able to grow up in an economy, to go into work — public or private sector work — she’s not being harassed, she’s being empowered. That’s what I’m focused on, I’m not focused on this other stuff.”

That “other stuff” are allegations by 19 women that Trump sexually assaulted or harassed them, just as he bragged about doing in the infamous “Access Hollywood” tape.

Ryan downplayed the idea of a congressional investigation into the allegations as some lawmakers have called for.

“Well, as you know, the person in charge of that investigation–that committee, Trey Gowdy, has given a very articulate response, which is that, those are criminal matters that… Congress doesn’t do criminal investigations,” Ryan said.

Guthrie pointed out that Congress does conduct ethics investigations into sexual harassment matters.

“I would invite you to talk to the White House.” Ryan shrugged.. “You know this very clearly, because it happened in your industry, in your studio — it’s happened here in Congress — but let’s take this moment for as serious as it is, and not make it some partisan thing.”

But while Ryan plays dumb, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders reaffirmed that it is the official government position that all 19 women are “liars” when asked about Trump’s denials at a recent press briefing.

“We have been clear on that from the beginning and the president has spoken on it,” Sanders said.

The president has spoken on it, and continues to speak on it.

“Despite thousands of hours wasted and many millions of dollars spent, the Democrats have been unable to show any collusion with Russia — so now they are moving on to the false accusations and fabricated stories of women who I don’t know and/or have never met,” Trump tweeted earlier this month after three of his accusers were interviewed by NBC’s Megyn Kelly. “FAKE NEWS!”

“I don’t want to be called a liar. I am not a liar,” another accuser, Melinda McGillivray, told Kelly. “I think he’s got to face the music. It’s time the nation wakes up to the reality of what we’re facing.”

“He can’t get away with this,” she said. “If 16 women have come forward why hasn’t anything been done? Where’s our investigation?”

Well, apparently Paul Ryan isn’t focused on that “other stuff.”
